Thoughts, the knowledge, the experiences, the memories, the beliefs, the ideas, the opinions, the assumptions, and habits and even the desires and ambitions are nothing but thoughts. Without them you are empty and without choice. You won't even know who you are. You are an organic machine and thoughts are the programs that are running in the brain or brains. Society wrote and is re-writing the programs. You are the programs, and the programs are making the choices and decisions for you. And you call that intelligent or smart! You don't even know how they are made. If you do, you will realize you are just a stupid machine. Assumptions…

People who do a lot of self-improvement eventually will realize that this leads only to pride, ambition, frustration, depression, obsessions, addiction, agression, and even to insanity and even suicide, if the circumstances become too much to bear for the ego. People who are on their way to become enlightened go thru the process of losing their egos and even their willpower to be replaced with something greater, and more fulfilling than selfish ambition and vanity. Even the most worldly-successful people eventually come to this conclusion. Many of them are very unhappy about their lives and circumstances and would do anything to become enlightened. The idea of choice and willpower is really behind what we call egoism and egocentrism.
