he got that from the mayan calendar wich says that on december the 12th, my birthday btw, the world will end, or (and this is more likely to me) that there’s gonna come a new era.

fear and attachment…
heh
Tim, do not make assumption. 2012 in here means in the near future, that’s all. There is no need to attach to labels like 2012 or 2020

I will die happy and fairly relaxed. I’ve already died before and it’s not as big of a deal. I’ve lived this life fully and have risen to meet my utmost sincerity, to the best of my ability. I regret nothing and am ready to die any day.

I’ll try not to die before that.

i hope y’all don’t mind a slightly religious response. no, no, no exhortations to get baptized.
anyway, when i was pretty young, i had this horrible fear for the ‘prophesized’ biblical apocalypse. so i went up to this bishop and told him straight in the face that i was afraid.
so he turns to me and frowns (he’s really old) and he says: “you worry about The Apocalypse, when in truth the day you die will be your own personal apocalypse”…
the point, of course, is that i think it doesn’t matter when the world will end, but when YOUR world (metaphorically speaking lah) will end…
and it could be tomorrow, we never know.

xpyre, well said bro. I’m no Christian, but I’m with you there. To me, that’s kinda the whole point of the Apocolypse prophecy. The person must be ready and willing to live through any upheaval, no matter how real and threatening it looks.
However, that doesn’t mean the upheaval will actually happen. Even from a personal perspective, some people can die a very serene death, because they have few worldly burdens.
But this, as I see it, is pretty much impossible without wisdom. The person for example should understand the drawbacks of positive experience, and not merely learn how to turn away from negative experience.

End of the world doesn’t mean end of human being
